Stand and See

A few months ago, during our in-house revival, the Lord woke me up and said, “Stand and See.” Then, I heard, “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” Sometimes God leads us in places that require our faith. You are not trapped. All hope is not lost. You are positioned for a miracle.

We all go through situations in life, things we battle, that seem naturally impossible. The situation in my life that God spoke to me about certainly seems impossible, but thankfully with God, all things are possible. If he told me stand and see, then that means he is going to make a way, and he will make a way for you, too, if you can believe.

In Exodus 14, the Israelites had just been delivered out of Egypt, and God tells Moses to have them turn and camp in front of the sea. From a natural standpoint, they looked trapped, but God was really setting a trap for the enemy. Just like Pharoah pursued the Israelites, Satan pursues us and doesn’t give up easily. Israel had just been delivered out of 430 years of bondage, yet shortly after their deliverance, the enemy was already chasing them.

Moses gives three commands and a promise: don’t fear, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. Fear can make you think irrationally and can make you want to run. Moses commanded them to stand still, which is often what God tells us to do in times of uncertainty.  He says stand still, don’t panic, and listen for my instructions. Then, he gives a wonderful promise: The enemies you see today, you will see no more.

Notice that God did not just deliver the Israelites. He destroyed their enemies. The ones that had them in bondage, and everything with them, was destroyed. It would have been enough just to deliver them. The Israelites could have looked across the Red Sea at the Egyptians and moved forward knowing that they were out of danger, but God made sure that not one was left standing, just as he promised. Whatever he has promised you, he WILL fulfill his promise. One day, you will be across your Red Sea and look back in a victorious state. God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, but they still had to walk through it. Whatever the situation is in your life, resist fear, be still, and wait on God’s direction. The battle is not yours, but God’s.
